about us
The
Russell County Amateur Radio Club, Inc. (RCARC, Inc.) was formed in March, 1999. Our
primary purpose is to serve as a backup communications auxiliary to the
Russell County Office of Emergency Services. We also promote amateur radio
to the public in the form of our annual Field Day celebrations and other
special events that we hold from time to time. Perhaps our most fulfilling
role however, is to provide new amateurs with experienced advice and
support to further the wonderful activity known as ham radio.
Our
members have a diverse interest base including mobile HF, VHF, digital
modes, radio direction finding, and emergency communications. We can
effectively communicate with the next town, the next county, the next
state, or anywhere in the world. We have acquired over the past three
years and impressive equipment inventory with which to accomplish our
objectives--all of which is centrally located in Lebanon for ease of
access should the need arise. The RCARC, Inc. is able to provide over 10,000
watts of generator capability and support extended emergency
communications needs with military-grade antenna support equipment, a wide
variety of commercial and custom-built antennas, our own logistical
supplies, and our own manpower. The goal of the RCARC, Inc. is to become a
self-contained, go anywhere, do anything organization with no need for
outside assistance. Our continuing agenda is one of public education,
promotion of the radio art, and preparation for disasters we sincerely
hope never come.
The
RCARC, Inc. is a very active club. We are currently involved in several
activities such as amateur radio demonstrations and training. If you would
like more information on the club please email us by clicking on
"Contact Us" on the menu to the right or drop by one of
meetings!! Thank you for your interest in the Russell County Amateur Radio
Club, Inc.
